Dallas, Texas – In December 2023, Jarvis Stewart, founder and Managing Partner of Cover Communications, presented to more than 75 NFL team executives and staff at the League’s Head Coach & Front Office Accelerator held during the year-end owners meeting.
His presentation, “Crisis Communications: What To Say and When To Say It”, provided insight and professional development to participants currently in the pipeline to become head coaches and general managers of the NFL’s 32 teams.
“The NFL has made an incredible investment over the last few years to position, prepare, and expand the talent pipeline of extremely capable men and women to elevate their careers within organizations,” said Jarvis Stewart. “My goal as a professional crisis manager and mitigator was to help participants think strategically and respond with precision when confronted with unintended challenges they may face as team executives.”
Jarvis’ hour-long presentation began with giving five team and player scenarios that required participants to discuss among themselves and answer the questions: “What to say, when to say it, and who to say it to.” The exercise demanded participants to be creative and consider both internal and external implications. After team discussions, Jarvis led an open discussion assessing the recommendations provided by the participants.
Chad Ricardo, NBC Washington Sports reporter, and analyst, and Fenimore Fisher, Vice President, DEI at Aramark, helped facilitate the discussion.
